The Assignment

It's 7:30 AM at the FortisBC Kelowna South substation. Your supervisor hands you a commissioning package for Bay 5 — a new 13.8 kV feeder to a commercial complex. Your job: set the ABB REF615, wire up the CMC 356, run the secondary injection tests, and sign off before the energization crew arrives at noon.

• Derive the correct relay settings from the protection study data
• Configure the ABB REF615 virtual relay
• Set up the Omicron CMC 356 test equipment
• Run pickup and timing tests to IEC 60255-151 tolerance
• Record and verify all test results
